A Sweet Idea (with a tip of the hat to Printeresting.org)

with 3 comments

The World Printmakers Group of Printmaking Websites on a Prezi presentation.

This new World Printmakers’ flyer is the cover shot of a mini-presentation done in a program we’ve just discovered (www.prezi.com). We suggest you print up WP_Group_6 and post it on your bulletin board.

We got the idea here from Printeresting.org. The good news is that you can use it, too.

Don’t wait. Start now!

  1. I am on an MA printmaking course in the UK. I have been printing black lino cuts with relief ink on somerset paper, however they have been drying with a bronze/rainbow ‘halo effect’ – whilst pretty this is not what I want. One of my text books suggested that too much extender or oil could cause this, however I have tried not using or using less any and I still get the same effect. Can anybody help?

    • I don’t know if this is the same thing or not, but I would get your print away from the light into a dark place for the ink to dry. I was taught in lithography that there was some similar effect (have also seen) and the prints had to be kept in the dark spot for a 2 days after printing to allow the ink to set up.

      • Dear Sarah Thank you so much for replying with your advice. In the end however, I discovered that it was probably the cheap extender I was using as when I replaced it with a little copperplate oil, the problem was solved! Best wishes Beverley, by the way i got the ma with a distinction :)
